Solar Panel Monitors
Solar, photo-voltaic (PV) system monitors track your system's power output and energy production and send them over your home's Internet connection to a website (usually the manufacturer's or vendor's) that you access with a computer, tablet, or smart phone.
On many monitors, you can see graphs and download spreadsheet files showing the power and energy your system is producing at the moment, over the day so far, going back by day, week, or month to when the system was first installed. Real-time power output is often shown in five-minute intervals (average kW over that interval of time), and energy is shown in hourly intervals (kWh produced in that hour).
For a small additional cost, you can sometimes add a Consumption Meter to monitor your actual consumption too (whether taken from the PV system's production or drawn from the grid), which is handier than calculating it from the SCE website.
SCE does show the net electricity you draw from its grid each hour (which SCE unhelpfully calls "usage") and sent to its grid (which they unhelpfully call "net generation") on its website under "Your Green Button Data." We explain how to use this page (it's not obvious) in the article, "Help on Using SCE's Website."
